A Place You Can Feel Good about Supporting
If you are looking for a place to financially support, please consider the Fort Lewis Mesa Community Library. The library serves a small community with almost no other services within a thirty minute drive. Without gaining loyal financial supporters, families in this small community will be deprived of many beneficial educational and social services.

The Fort Lewis Mesa community library provides the following services to its patrons:

What Community Members Say
"I'm a mother with three children ages 5 - 12. My family has benefited tremendously by having a library nearby. In the past twelve years, my children have checked out thousands of books, learned how to use computers, gone to hundreds of story times, learned how to knit and crochet through the yarn club, participated in the summer reading program, and volunteered many hours to help in any way they can. I have written books, used the internet and copy/print services for personal and business use, and given community presentations, among other things. The library is the center of my family's community life. Thank you for helping us keep it open!" - Christina Albrecht
"As the Durango 9-R Superintendent, I have seen first hand how the library benefits our students and their families. Having easy access to the library supports students in their learning and also helps their younger siblings prepare for school. It is a wonderful community center and educational support. Thank you for supporting our students in this rural area where they have so little else to support them after school." - Dan Snowberger
"I care for an 84-year-old man who is disabled and nearly home bound. I regularly go to the library to check out books and materials for him. While I'm there, I always get something for myself as well. Occasionally, he is able to make it to a library event and he loves that. It is wonderful to have the library so accessible!" - Trish Arny
"My husband and I have two children ages 5 and 8. Our family uses the Fort Lewis Mesa library weekly. We check out 30-40 books a week and because of this, my children have developed a love of reading. We enjoy the programs and events at the library as well, and we love the caring and friendly staff." - Christie Stewart
"I am a senior at Durango High School. I have grown up going to the library, participating in the Summer Reading Program, and attending numerous other library programs and events. It is a wonderful community center! In order to graduate from high school next year, I need to volunteer for 20 hours. I have spent many hours volunteering at the library. I shelve books, help with programs, and do various odd jobs. It has been fun to help and so great to have such a close place to volunteer." - Carter Marshall
